The whole Hornby's article is interesting, no matter the beginning Dave introduced his background, then he met Mattha, and later the painting was stomped over. When I read the part where Dave thought if he was religious he wouldn't stomp all over Jesus face, I guessed Mattha's aim must be to let someone who was religious destroy the painting. And that is the most interesting point for me, the provocation and paradox. I read the story word by word, until the painting was destroyed, I didn't get any idea about what was going to happen and what was the author's intension of writing it. The way Dave thought and teased people was funny, for example, he used his wife, Lisa, to describe how things would look beautiful in one way from distance, and ugly in another, close up. Well it applies to me: I care my outfit and make-up out door and in front of people, while in home I wear XL size SpongeBob Square Pants T shirt and tie my hair in a messy style. This part makes laugh.
Although I like the story very much, I can't understand the last paragraph. How Dave think about himself? What the onion mean? Well I won’t be so angry or upset, or disappointed, anyway, on Mattha if she turned out to be not as good as what used to think about her. Well I might be upset about her carelessness, and I would be angry about that if I was teased by protecting and loving the painting while her purpose was someone else to destroy it, and my effects. Dave was so wrong in the way he thought Mattah's art. But what he did in the end is hard for me to understand. But overall I like Mattha's idea.
